"Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said on Wednesday that he's "not concerned about the very poor," citing the social safety net in place for that segment of the populace and adding that he's focused on the middle class...".* The Young Turks host break down the comments the 2012 Republican Presidential candidate gave in a CNN interview.

  • "I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. . . .corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed."

-U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, Nov. 21, 1864, from a letter to Col. William F. Elkins (3)

  • maybe Mitt thinks millionaires are the middle class?

  • @skolded1 Yeah that's great for the Chinese but we are talking about putting Americans back to work.

  • @mrhoffame true that

  • Romney is added to my shit list...what a jerk! That's the republicans for ya...

  • @plynth2 Nice out of context quote. The omitted sections states "...[As a result of the war], corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow..."

This quote has no reference to modern politics.

  • Mitt is a nice guy

but Ron Paul is a nicer guy

    so ye

    voting RON PAUL REVOLUTION 2012 ! ! !

    Obama fucks off

  • speech malfunction.. ABORT ABORT!!

  • @PanzerBlitz43 Exactly! Bush entering Iraq illegally, Santorum comparing homosexuality with pedofiles and finally Romney who dosen't care about the poor... That country is doomed if they choose a Republican. I think they only get votes from some of the VERY christians in their country (witch is many) and people from the southern states. Next time an American president does something illegal, like entering another war like they entered Iraq, the UN will hopefully react ;)

  • Romney and Santorum are robotic brain dead psychos, as stupid and immoral as Bush. Who would vote for these losers?

  • REALLY? I don't really like Romney but let's be honest here. He clearly said that he was not worried about the poor because they have a safety net. If there are holes then they should be fixed

IN OTHER WORDS. The poor have welfare, food stamps, DFS services, etc..If there are holes in those, we should fix them. I heard him say it didn't seem like the middle class had the nets it needed.

Do we have to spin EVERY DAM THING in politics today. I truly hate both parties in Washington
