My career in mass-media began back in 1979 at a weekly local newspaper and print shop called "The West Chicago Press." The Treudt family not only gave me my first real job, they became life-long friends. The newspaper has since gone the way of most weekly publications. However, the printing operation survives. Recently the West Chicago Printing Company celebrated it's 100 year anniversary. This interview with Bill Treudt and Modesto "Mo" Zarate, recounts daily life and laughs that went with the newspaper and printing business in the 20th century.
I use to hand feed the old Miehle Flat bed cylinder press in the 60's and early 70's. They are hard to find anywhere on the Internet today.

I worked for Bill Treudt and alongside Mo Zarate and George Weimer. I've never found any finer people, anywhere. All of my memories from the West Chicago Press are happy ones.
