MuscleMagFitness.com Athlete Jeff Behar demonstrates how to perform the leg press. The leg Press is a compound power movement performed on a machine that can be used to target the quadriceps muscles (legs). Different paarts of the front of the leg can be worked by changing the foot positions. By varying foot positions Leg Press can also be used to work the gluteal muscles in the buttocks, the hamstring muscles in the back of the thighs, and the calves.

  • I don't have a leg press machine, but I do have a squat rack available. Would you say that traditional squats would be just as effective or more effective then the leg press machine?

  • @pr0n3 s Of course variety is best, but squats can build great legs too

  • @pr0n3 squats, if you can do them correctly, and safely is more effective then the leg press machine; doing both is ideal for optimal growth and development.

  • @TheEviIOyo I also use the leg press to avoid screwing up my back now that I am older, but nothing beats the squat for overall core with leg development. If I didnt have disk issues I would be squatting again. Squats not only work quads, core but can work hips/glutes/hams and are also known to have an overall anabolic effect on the whole body! However, if your back has issues and you can not strengthen your back and then do squats, stick to less riskier exercises, like the press

  • @TheEviIOyo @TheEviIOyo squats are the best for overall leg and body development, but if you have a bad back, bad knees and can not squat, overloading on the leg press can still work well.

  • My uncle has done 24. Ive seen a pic

  • Leg press is my favorite leg exercise to do. It is also much safer than squats in that your back is planted firmly against the back rest so it stays in perfect form with very little risk of incurring an injury. However Nothing beats Squats! In fact Squats is the single greatest exercise of all the great exercise. followed closely by deadlift. Rows are great for back and chest we all love the bench press. All these exercises are king exercises. But out of everyone the squat rules.
