http://www.ted.com Outside.in's Steven Johnson says the Web is like a city: built by many people, completely controlled by no one, intricately interconnected and yet functioning as many independent parts. While disaster strikes in one place, elsewhere, life goes on.

  • Steven Johnson is such a smart guy! geeez!

  • The guy is so proud to see his own website at the top of a google search... And the irony is that he might well be the only one to get his results in that order because he kept trying to google himself so much...

You might want to avoid the "Stevens–Johnson syndrom" article if you try it yourself and have children around.

  • 18:17 Is it really smart to play a game in the middle of the road?

  • Its advertising so they can get you to watch it hoping for the big position of your interest LOL

  • I like the nokia commercial

  • Both (City and Web) have emergent properties. On lower lewels (interacting individuals) decisions are made, which then have effects on how the system as a whole is shaped :-)

  • Most boring talk at TED i've listened to so far...

  • u noe.. ted usually tends to have misleading titles for their videoes.. the speaker wasnt really establishing a link between the two, but rather just spoke about the nature o the two and sort of related it to his idea of density.. so i supposed thts what the link is.. they are both certain densities of human activity.. i might not be totally right, but thts what i gathered..

  • still have not exact clue about the relation between the web and the city, any of you could you please summarize the lecture for me? soryy I have poor brains/

  • I like the conception Globle Brain.
