Google "Peak Oil". Once you've researched it for yourself and you comprehend how the ever rising price of oil will eventually affect everything you pay for, you'll realize that cutting your own hair might just save you enough extra cash to fill your tank and make it to work so you can afford putting that food on your table or that credit card payment.

After watching a couple of videos on how to cut your own hair

I decided not only to go through with cutting my hair, but also film myself while doing it. I figured, why not, it's the first time I've ever done it and I do have a time lapse feature on my camera so what the heck? :)

The haircut was ok (probably could have gotten a better one through my usual stylist), but I did learn a little and with some better scissors, I'm sure I'll do a better job next time. BTW, I started the video with bed head and didn't shower and style it the way I normally do when I was done so try to keep that in mind when you critique the look of it ;-)

At the very least, I saved myself $25 and a 8 mile roundtrip to the stylist.

Song used during time lapse is Ulrich Schnauss - Between Us and Them.

  • I have to admit, it looks like a diy haircut not sure what you do for a living but I bet your not a barber. how much time did it take, you could get a barber to cut it , look alot better and spend time doing something. I bet you don't cut it everytime. By the way, I am a pro and your cut looks like crap.

  • @morlynhen111399 I can't imagine any barber being supportive of people cutting their own hair so I'll take your "your cut looks like crap" comment with a grain of salt. FYI, it takes me about 30-40 mins (less than the trip to a stylist) and I've never paid for another cut since. As far as what I do for a living, I'm a stand in for film actors. You may have heard of some of them, but who they are have no bearing on who's opinion of my cut carries more weight, yours or the people I work with.

  • I do the same to prepare for peak oil....saving 10K over 30 years at least...

  • @MrEnergyCzar Awesome, good to hear others are doing the same! Hopefully it will be able to save us the extra cash we need to make it through when times get really tough.

  • wtf mayne,,, i jus' cut,,,,or shall i say hacked the shit outta my hair after watchin' this vid..now i got one side looking like a half-assed drake, and the other lookin' like,,,i'd say the moon b'cuz of all the patches.....plus to top that all off i ain't got one single fitted-cap in my damned-ass house.....real-talk.

  • @aproductoutdapark Sorry to hear that, I never said it was easy.

  • $25/haircut? Where do you live? Beverly Hills? I have places near me that charge $6, $8, and even Hair Cuttery charges $12 tops I think.

  • Holy- wow... When I'm brave enough, I'll try this xD

  • @putdownan8dude.......i'm not african american dude.

  • @aproductoutdapark you should watch a african american haircut video.

  • hollywood bedhead cost 8 bux a tube

  • @mrhairsaviour I haven't tried a razor comb, but I have been using my electric trimmer the last dozen times or so to save time, not because I get a better cut than the sizzors. I'll have to look into the razor comb, thanks for the advice.
