Javed: China vs Pak - Accountability

Javed Chaudhry - host of Kal Tak program in Pakistan - cites the firm stance of the China's ruling Communist Party against corruption as the model for Pakistan's rulers. The Chinese government has zero tolerance against corruption and does not hesitate to prosecute and punish senior government officials and party members. By contrast, Pakistani ruling elite has embraced corruption as a standard practice and even given it legal protection in the form of NRO legislation. According to Javed, history proves that a society that condones corruption in its political and bureaucratic ranks does not prosper.
