2009 CNN Hero Doc Hendley's premier on the TEDx Stage at Asheville, NC on August 29, 2010. Doc is founder of Wine to Water, a non-profit promoting clean water resources in poverty stricken countries worldwide.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxAsheville, where "x" = an independently organized TED event. At TEDxAsheville, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
