I'd like to answer the science question Gary poses in his response video.
As an object approaches the moon and comes under its gravitational field, it heats up and begins to carmelize, thus creating sugar. This extra sugar fuel gives it an energy boost, causing it to speed up.

He has never been interested in relieving
suffering only in eradicating it. A typically
gary absolute. And aside from his crazy theories
about life he is a raging sexist of truly epic
proportions.You are well rid.

His idea of VR is idealized. He thinks of a world that fools your brain so much that you will not know that it's a virtual world, so realistic.
About sterilization and other things that might sound bad, he see them as the lesser evil. We die by each others' violence, or we die peacefully of age.

Gary is a vegetarian NOT A VEGAN. as you say if he wanted to curtail suffering a little bit more. . .

This is interesting stuff. I've felt that I've always understood where Gary's coming from and have agreed with a lot of his points of view, but I've yet to see this video you're talking about. It's not sounding too good.

No need for ovens. The sunlight striking the moon heats it up. The moon has no atmosphere to shield it from the sun's energy. That's why the surface of the moon is covered with powdered sugar.

Well articulated!

OK wise guy, then what causes the moon to heat up? And you can't say ovens! There's no evidence for any ovens!!
-
LOL. Thumbs up.

Yes and we should learn to spell the word sterilize to.
Seriously- see Robert Nozick's "Experience Machine Argument". I like virtual reality, but may I refer you to another Nozick idea, the idea of deontic side constraints on utility-increasing acts against individuals- that is, RIGHTS.

I haven't encountered him before but I'll certainly check him out. Cheers

As fo VR well undoubtedly it could be great entertainment and may indeed provide practical assistance in investigating scenarios normally out of reach for human beings. I don't see it as a 'solution' to anything substantial. As for Gary well I've tried very hard to put aside his style but I realise now it's not just a style thing; he has utter contempt for life and other people. There is just no way to square human rights abuse with a desire to relieve suffering. I just don't believe him.
