That's a lost hope... I got the Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev.2 on GF 9800 GT and that cooler is fantastic. I thought "hei this Phantom cooler looks so like mine and it should rock too" This test just changes my mined about it...

I have gainward gt 240 and its getting overheaten in minutes... gainward sucks...

The problem is that this card dumps a lot of it's excess heat directly into the case unlike most of the aftermarket coolers that vent it outside the case. Sure the thing is quiet but the fan is set too low to keep the graphics card cool at its stock speed and as such has to ramp up. I bought this one myself and will be selling it on soon to get a Gigabyte 560ti SoC, its just as quiet and the cooler dumps the heat out of the case

i wanna thank you for your idea. i did the same lapping procedure. my temp in furmark is now 74 instead of 84°C with 100% fan. but i'm still not happy with the card. i orderd some stuff like custom fans and heatsinks to play around a little. gonna share my experience
nice idea. i got the same problem. i like your solution, but 81°C is still too much. maybe the phantom cooler is just a big fail

@doktoroptimo Well, I've had plan to remove plastic cover and replace ventilators with larger ones. But actually I don't have reason for that. Card works well, noise is acceptable, no problem with system stability...
