Just a few seconds left till halftime when on 3rd & 22 QB Humphries launches a 46 yard hailmary bomb to the back of the endzone where WR Andre Coleman surrounded by Lions DBs (including DET WR Herman Moore) make the catch for the touchdown. Moore came in on defensive to play a DB because of his jumping ability - unfortunately - a DB forgot to come out and the Lions had 12 men on the field. Sorry for the Qulity - found this VCR tape in box that was in storage for several years.

  • The fucking offensive lineman should've been called for tripping.

  • Stan Humphries also threw another hail mary against the Dolphins on Monday night. I think it was the 1000th TD on MNF history. Something like that.

  • Sometimes fast forwarding and rewinding a tape can remove some of the dirt that has accumulated in the picture.

  • I was at this game and had season tickets in the seats behind the end zone where the play occurred. I could not see the catch because the wall is 17' high and Coleman caught the ball in the back of the end zone. Once the crowd erupted, it was obvious what had happened.

  • The Lions had 12 men on the field, and still ate the TD!? Damn. I actually remember this. And ironic that Wayne Fontes would be coaching against the man who replaced him the next year.

  • The next week, Stan Humphries would throw up another hail mary, this time with six seconds remaining in regulation. Unfortunately for San Diego, Melvin Johnson of the Tampa Bay Bucs swatted the pass away, saving a 25-17 victory for the pirate with the sword in his mouth.
