  • This is very nice~:):)thanx

  • Just one of the best of Ray Conniff - vocal harmony and instruments it doesn't get better than this. Thank you for posting.

  • Sending this to a new friend in the Nederlands as one of the BEST examples of the forte-piano sound among the musicians. Forte-piano gives a 'swing' to the volume as it starts percussively loud & is suddenly softer. This volume swing coupled with the rhythmic swing gives a doubled swing effect that was the hallmark of the best bands from 70 years ago. I can sing this forte-piano to demonstrate to friends, but although I played sax for 8 years, I'm not sure I could play it.

  • Conniff classic. Opening theme music for San Diego Sun-Up on KFMB in 1965. My dad was a fan of Ray Conniff and Bob Mills.

  • @Grandad35 No that's me he and thee makes three. teehee. Love it thank for posting.

  • Today, yours is now the only Conniff 'Oklahoma' video. BigJoeMig was suspended, so my fringed surrey and oklahoma theme are now gone, sighhh.

  • So, 3 months go by and nobody much likes this but me! Too bad. This has got to be one of Ray's most awesome arrangements, combining jazz and swing and connected by mellow interludes! As this song progresses, the 'Conniff Sound' slowly disappears in favor of the Big Band sound and you step back a generation in time until the "Conniff Sound' re-emerges in the last 30 seconds. Wow ! !

  • Conniff is a pied piper, thanks for posting this. It goes with the other 140 on my Conniff playlists. RC masterfully reconfigured the sounds of the swing-era bands and kept them going for another half century. I had never paid close attention before - I though swing died after WWII, yet it lived always in Conniff arrangements.
