Me playing some of the bass and the bass solo of the Gumbo Variations by Frank Zappa. Bassist on the track is Max Bennett. Very cool! Sorry for the inferior sound quality. I'm using a digital camera that takes video clips. It records the sound too and it distorts very badly if the bass is too loud. Hope you enjoy. More to come. -Jack

  • Ah God I love you.

I-I'm still an amateur bassist (I know my username has "flute" in it but I play three instruments. . xD)and I'm actually doing a solo for the jazz band. And the kids there all know me as this amazing bassist, and the song I'm doing a solo in is in gumbo rock, a style I've never. . . done.

So this really gave me some awesome ideas for soloing ; ;!

    Thank you so much <3

  • Thanks a whole helluva lot. That means a great deal to me to hear that. Good luck with the jazz band project. Keep it up and never give up on the dream.

  • Cool. Thanks for posting this.

  • Thank you!

  • The CD mix has some added embellishments not present on the vinyl version. For example, on "Willie the Pimp," there's a lot of clicks and rhythmic effects that don't exist on the LP. When FZ remastered everything for CD, he added a few things on.

  • @jackeminor y u no use little finger?

  • Borrow the score for 'Hot Rats' by Frank Zappa at a library.

  • Nah it's not. I prefer the CD version also

  • yessssss lord!

  • in my opinion i find ''little unbrellas'' and ''it must be a camel'' better on the original

  • Im pretty sure they then re-re-released everything as it originally was before that first re-release where he added new bass/drum parts....

so any CD version you get now should be the original arrangements and recordings, just remastered for CD

  • Okay, you're obviously a good bass player.

    Where's the fucking amp?
