It's exactly three decades after the Argentine cruiser General Belgrano was sunk in the first major British attack of the Falklands war. RT sits down with historian and author Hugh Bicheno to discuss whether the conflict was worth it.

Intellect in Britain is based upon elitism, not intelligence. The fact that some rich elite can go to a good old boy's school such as Eaton, then on to Cambridge does not necessarily mean that they will have the morality, ethics, and logic to make rational decisions based upon the will of the people. The fact is that this elitism is ingrained into the British psyche since QE1st. Under Victoria, this egotism expanded worldwide and forced opium upon China. Then the "Jewel in the Crown" fell out!

UK government shenanigans aside, the we should give back Falklands Isles to the Argentinians, and they should give back the Isle of Wight to us.
Screw the lust for military power. Any need for military outside pure home defence is criminal and waste.

'Give back'
It was British before Argentina existed as a country and it was discovered by an Englishman. The Argentinians have a huge mass of land. The Falklanders wish to remain a dependency by something like 98% I believe. It was uninhabited/no native population was displaced - for once when considering european colinisation. The UK has done some horrible things in the past (so have the Spanish) but if there ever were a legitimate case for saying 'fuck off' to Argentina then this would be it.

- Anglo-Saxons came from Germany, which is in Europe.
- The distance between continental Europe and the British Isles is considerably less than the "width of the north sea".
"Europeans are more civilized"
I think you mean "more geograpically and historically challenged."

Your arguments rest on the false assumption that these places were "alright" to begin with.
"mess of India"
India fucked itself up.
"South Africa a bloody mess still"
It didn't become a mess until Saint Nelson took over. Don't get me started on the rest of Africa.

This author, HUGH BICHENO talks UTTER RUBBISH ! Since 1982, the British armed forces are LIGHT YEARS AHEAD IN MILITARY TECHNOLOGY, while the ARGENTINA militarily has NOT IMPROVED ONE IOTA SINCE 1982. That is why ARGENTINA will NOT try to retake the FALKLANDS ISLANDS any time in the forseeable future.
ARGENTINA knows better than to mess with Prime Minister David Cameron.
THIS IS MORE RUSSIA TODAY GARBAGE !

Yes, thank you Hugh Bicheno for exposing the real rot at the top of British government. Thanks to a disease of the intellect, Brits got communist half wits like Tony Blair to run the UK as PM for 11 years, who started off his "marvellous" record of "achievements" by sending that "demasculated" RAF to bomb my country Serbia in violation of both the UN and the nato charter, in 1999. What a diseased man he is, and who's then really going to cry when Arg takes back the Malvs?
