Tribute to Brandon Franklin 1987 - 2010
Talented, spirited, and generous, Brandon Franklin excelled as a drum major at New Orleans' George Washington Carver High School. Band director Wilbert Rawlins helped Franklin form The To Be Continued Brass Band, now one of the best second line bands in New Orleans, and Rawlins hired Brandon to be his assistant band director at O. Perry Walker High School last year. In May, 2010, Brandon was shot to death. He is sorely missed by family, friends, and hundreds of students who looked up to him.

  • Brandon Franklin was shot to death at age 22. Yesterday was the fourth anniversary of the shooting death of another talented young New Orleans musician and teacher, Dinerral Shavers. These two died from the very forces they were working so hard to protect other young people from.
