Song Title: Marisa and Alice Battle
OST Title: Popple Battle; Doll Judgement; Love-Colored Master Spark
Game: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga; Touhou 7: Perfect Cherry Blossom; Touhou 8: Imperishable Night
Platform: GBA, PC
Composer: ZUN; Yoko Shimomura
Remixer: DJ the S
Artist's comments: Number 1 of the 3 R&S Cross-Overs. I don't think I have to explain anything, do I?

Anyway, the song is a cross-over between 3 songs. The Popple battle from Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga, Marisa's theme Love-Coloured Master Spark from Touhou 8: Imperishable Night and Alice's theme Doll Judgement from Touhou 7: Perfect Cherry Blossom.

The song has a booming bass, a "starry" background melody and overall it's a bit light-hearted. In opposite to the Popple battle, which sounded like a mix of serious and ridiculous, I wanted to make this theme a bit light-hearted instead. It's supposed to be some kind of a fun battle instead of a boss battle. Marisa isn't giving her best, just having fun with her favorite shrine maidens, and Alice...well, she just likes to be at Marisa's side.

Turned out quite well in my opinion. If your speakers are good enough to transmit the feel of the bass then it's a quite enjoyable theme to listen to.

Ah yes, the picture was made by my good friend Lane, aka VanishingSVST. You can find the picture on Deviantart. You should check out his channel and his animated sprite series "Super Mario Vanishing Existence": http://www.youtube.com/user/VanishingSVST

  • Well excecuted, for what it was... However, it sounds a little too much like three tracks in sequence, as opposed to one well-flowing track. When I hear "Crosover remix", I expect two, similar, songs melded well enough to sound like both simultaneously, almost to the point of being a third melody altogether.

Of course, I'm no man to critique. Sound manipulation always was a bit beyond me, so I'm in no way qualified to critisize anyone's audio work, but I hope I've at least given you an idea.

  • @pie625 I see what's your problem there, it seems the name "Cross-Over" isn't appropriate.

Because what you describe is not what I intended to do. What I tried to do was making a loop in which you can easily hear all of the used themes. I'm just playing around a bit with that, not meant to be serious at all.

Thanks for the comment, I appreciate your criticism.

  • Will someone please... for the love of all Touhou fans (myself included), MAKE THIS GAME A REALITY?! I'd do it but I'm lacking the skills to do so.

  • Ain't supposed to be so many girlies in MY game, see!?

    ...Good remix/cross over thingy!

  • @pie625 ive seen one,its made from walfas XD

  • If there would be a Touhou version of mario superstarsaga

I'd rather want it to be:

Minoriko and Shizuha: Superpotato Saga :D

That way, the Aki sisters would get some recognition from touhou fans.

Otherwise the remix is very nice.

  • thats a nice remix see?

  • Dang, you gotta do more crossovers. (Dark Fawful + Touhou, maybe?)

  • Not very good

  • I swear you don't know how glad I am that you like Touhou.

  • @lunardragon2607 Well, I haven't yet seen a Touhou/Pong crossover... but it's only a matter of time.

  • @DjtheSdotcom What it really amounts to is a short, looped medley. I'll see if there's a special term for that.

While I'm at it, I may try and find two tracks, from seperate games, that would make for a siutable "Crossover". I don't know how difficult such a thing would be to produce, but a musical talent should be able to pull it off.

At any rate, keep up the excellent work. I have yet to hear a track from you that hasn't had at least one good aspect to it, so don't change that now!
