Originally produced two years ago as "One Minute to Nine," this documentary finally arrives at HBO with a somewhat more in-your-face title -- and, in a stark, spare way that has come to characterize the pay channel, delivers a pretty bracing wallop. A harrowing portrait of domestic abuse, the project draws heavily on video shot by the dead abuser, as his wife, Wendy Maldonado, spends her final days of freedom before going to jail for his murder. The net result is every bit as chilling and depressing as one might expect. Includes captions for the hearing impaired.

  • This documentary should be a mandatory study for juniors in high school to spread awareness to females and males in hopes of further educating them in the early warning signs of domestic violence along with mandatory rape prevention and self-defense classes. We teach them sexual education, why not teach them self-defense that could save many lives.

  • She's getting out on 4 years! she shouldve never have fucking been in there!! ugh! its just so fucking stupid!

  • i watched this in law and loved it. She should have taken it to trial. she would have won anyway. yes a life was taken but many were saved.

  • wow, u had to put in your own titles? for every part?,,,,, fail

  • @singpraise247

its not a big step if youre afraid of no one but god. youre either afraid of nothing, or something. Try being afraid of nothing, then you've taken a step up.

  • I am still flabbergasted all the neighbors saw and not one of them stepped in...Yes calling the police he would have gotten madder..but why didn't anyone care enough to roll up on his stupid @ss and pepper spray him in the face, taser him or just knock him out while he was beating his wife! The neighbors were a bunch of loser punks who are NO better than the guy. What a bunch of losers only caring about their own skin...she could have died and they would have blood on their hands! Losers!

  • I WOULD have! I am scared of NO ONE but God! I have stepped up to pimps, I don't care! I am NOT scared of them! They won't touch me. God has never let them. I wish I had lived by this weiner. I would have had five big dudes molest him and beat his butt and threaten him until he knows, he is going to get beat time if he even thinking about laying a hand on his wife or kids. Or doing anything to them! Guys like this are bully losers and only pick on those they can. He needed to be taughtalesson

  • Ok..So I WOULD have stepped in.. I am a female and I have done it before. I DONT put up with ANYONE abusing anyone, animal, human, child NADA! I will NEVER Mind my own business when someone is in danger! NEVER!!! And none of us should! These people are all chicken shit, and they are NOT heros! MLK Jr says and God as well..if we just sit by and watch injustice and do nothing..we are no better than the person doing it! They should havetasered him and threatened him so he NEVER touched her again

  • I am sorry but.. why wouldn't any of these people step in and just pummel the guy? You are all right police and justice suck. Its extremely backward and twilight zone..kill maim torture animals..no punishment..help wild animals..help a dog etc..get in jail.. Punish your own child or get on a bus and tell other kids to leave your child the hell alone..get punished... Molest children???? Or rape women..or attempt to murder someone..barely a slap on the wrist in most places!

  • it's cases like this that make me seriously question our "justice" system

  • The thing is, when the police are called on a domestic dispute and the husband is arrested, they are usually released a few days or a few weeks later and go back to their home and are even angrier. I see it happen all the time. I hate to break it to some of you but the police and are justice system aren't always the superheros we think they are.
