sometimes I wonder if i'll be drinking whiskey in some bar with damien rice playing in the background, look at the flies in the peanuts, the darts in ugly, hairy fists, my torn flannel shirt, kiss a strange woman and fight every guy in there for no reason. I'd get beaten up bad, thrown in the mud, and wander into the mountains under rain... and find a door to a new world, a better world.

I thought that there could not be a version of this song better than the Live from Abbey Road performance. I was wrong. The depth of emotional struggle that Damien displays is awe inspiring. Never have I seen so much passion and pain eloquently wound together honestly delivered. Every time I watch him sing this it makes me ache inside

this song is so beautiful, laced with all this raw passion
it just pains me to hear it sometimes, when you hear the depth of his pain
this is real music, where you can sense the presence of true emotion in every word that passes through his lips, how close he is to breaking down, how he channels all his pain from his heart and how you can see that he is using every fiber of his body to unleash his inner self, just beautiful, thank you Damien for showing us what real music feels and sounds like
Since 2:30 Damien's getting really emotional, "Fuck You" at 3:43 is clearly painful for him, I think that in this part he's on the edge.
I can't even imagine how much he must love Lisa, that's incredible for me. I think Damien is the best in transforming music into something divine. You can see little emotions in every word, every keystroke, every move.
I've never enjoyed Rootless Tree as much, but since yesterday that's my most loved version.
Damien's my all time favourite singer. No doubt.

There are just some songs that seriously feel like they were written for you. The way Damien's intense emotions come through all his songs is so beautiful because you know he's putting himself in that 'moment" It's like he's reliving the pain as if it just happened. I cry every time I hear this song because I have been with someone I loved so much but wished i could hate just so we can move on. It's massively painful. this song is the anthem for relationships that just wont end when they should!
