If you didn't get an extra card, your built-in memory isn't that big at all.

Whats the longest sample you can put in ? is there a limit

You have to buy a flash memory card to get more space. You can choose to record in long mode (for longer samples, but lower quality) standard, or fine (for high quality samples, but takes more space)
I pretty much do everything in long mode.

its a good tutorial but why do you use the mono input from the SPD-S? all you have to do is to put an 3,5mm split to two 6,3mm cable into the input jacks. Then you have a stereo signal, and that sounds much better, isn't it? (sorry for my bad english)
