Transperth B series Electric multiple units running threw median of the Kwinana Freeway near Canning Bridge station on the Mandurah Line. The line opened in December 2007 and has 130 km/h running on most parts. The line to Mandurah is 70 km long and takes about 50 minutes from Perth Underground.
The B series EMU's are built by EDi/Bombardier in Maryborough and have a top speed of 130 km/h. They are similar to QR's Suburban Multiple Unit 260 series.

  • Yeah bullshit short term thinking. Would of been good to see the line built threw to Beenleigh then onto the Gold Coast alignment. wouldn't of had to triplicate Salisbury - Kuraby either.

  • Well I told them at a Public Forum on the Busway that I think it would be better if they built a Railway line instead.

Their argument against the Railway was the cost of building it.

  • Yes and they haven't learnt their mistake. The SE Busways a bottleneck during peak, going to be made worse with the Eastern Busway.

The Mandurah line is a real example of what buses should be used for...to feed pax to a hi-speed railway. It works extremely well during peak.

  • I was pissed when the Qld Government built a Busway instead of doing this style of railway along the South East Freeway.
