This was the Mount Nebo Presbyterian Church and cemetery in Lancaster County PA. Built in 1854, it's in a valley and down a dirt road seemingly miles from anything, although there are farms surrounding the land. The church was abandoned in 1915 until it was finally torn down in the mid 90's.

The cemetery is very old. The oldest stone we could read dated back to 1811. I had not been there for almost ten years and was surprised to find that someone was just laid to rest there in the summer of 2008. The most recent grave I found before that was 1988 although there may have been one more recent that I missed.

I'm glad we got the footage of the church when we did in '94 because it was only a few years after that we lost the church all together. The site is not far from the pinnacle overlook on the mighty susquehanna river.

  • I snuck into the cemetery late at night to visit my father's grave on All Souls Day. I lit a candle for him and sat there on the grass over his grave for a considerable amount of time with him. There wasn't anything spooky about it at all. Actually, I found the cemetery to be a very peaceful place to be even late at night. It's not the dead ones you have to worry about, it's the live ones that will try to get you every time!

  • @MegaTmarshall Very true!

  • It takes a certain lack of character to vandalize a church, abandoned or not - And a realy sick person to vandalize a cemetery. The writing underneath the pentagram pretty much says it all.

  • @CoolBreezeClub that's... Umm... Interesting...

  • I once dated a goth chick who liked to have sex in graveyards and churches. I thought it was somewhat creepy at first, but it was a really great experience. I miss those days....

  • I find old abandoned buildings to be sad, especially a church with a cemetery. Old cemeteries are cool to visit though, this one has a lot of character to it

  • There is no such thing as a creepy church and a cemetery.

  • There was an old church that looked very similar to this one in my town called Mount Bethel is was built around 1803 and abandoned 1907 when it mysteriously burnt only 5 people were in the church's congregation in 1906 and they abandoned it in 1907 and even the bricks burnt but the books and stuff inside didn't anyway the cemetery is in the middle of town and abandoned no one notices it
