This scene breaks my heart every time I watch it. :'(

@nineteenthcenturyeng I really don't think the lock would have changed, I daresay most people don't upgrade the lock on their front door too often, and Mrs Hudson had no incentive to. Also, as for how he remembered the right key...he's Sherlock Holmes.

It´s funny that when he was fighting with Moriarty he was tousled. And when he was sitting again, he was combed again :-)

It's awesome, among many things, to see Holmes effortlessly, almost casually pick Moriarty up by his waist and toss him off a cliff.
"My apologies but I really don't have time for this. I rolled a natural 20 so if it please you, you can just go and fall to your death now, if you'd be so kind."
Holmes on the ledge, watching his best friend grieve over his supposed death, was absolutely heartbreaking. He almost cried out his name, he was aching so badly to tell his friend he was okay. And the guilt and sadness as he watched Watson read the note, knowing full well that he had wounded his friend deeper than Watson had ever recieved in Afganistan. And he probably spent those 3 years with that weighing heavily on his heart. I imagine him trying so hard not to write to him.

When Watson shows Holmes the note to me it is almost more moving than his reaction to watching Watson 'slip away' from him at the falls. Because it seems to me that he can think of no adequate response to such a gesture - hence why he makes none.
