Geri Halliwell witnessed firsthand the horrific conditions for women in Zambia living with AIDS, she came to Capitol Hill because the United States is unique in not funding the agency. That stopped in 2002, when the Bush administration withheld funds to the UNFPA for its work in China with the Chinese one-child policy. "I find this absolutely heartbreaking because it was America that started it in the 1960s, that was so forward thinking to set up the UNFPA," she says.

  • bravo Geri! I didn't expect this from you, but I know somebody, whose name starts with "V" and ends with "ictoria", who has a lot of money and could do something similar...

    :)

  • WoW, Geri Halliwell is a great person!!!!! I think what she is doing for this cause and the many others she give to is great because she dosen't have to do this kind of thing, I mean, she's Ginger Spice, come-on!!!!! She gives so much backand I can assure you she'll be rewarded for all of her good deeds in the end

  • Do people really believe this shit? Sir Cecil Rhodes helped destroy Africa for you precious majesty, now you pose as saviors for these "poor" Africans. They wouldn't be so bad off If the Imperialist nations like England, U.S., Netherlands, France, etc. just left them alone in the first place. Then the cheap shot at the U.S. that was classy, like the British govt is so great.

  • I LOVE and RESPECT her for this.

    GOD BLESS Geri!

  • i dont give a shit

  • Hi Gerri

I did a 3 year tour of duty with the UNFPA in Zambia.

Fighting for womens reproductive health rights.

The US gave us no money. We relied upon the more enlighted people and cultures such as the UK, the nordic countries and Japan.

Women and children are dying in Africa.

It doesnt have to be that way.

    Best wishes

    Glenn
