I spent hours trying to find this truck and then there was also all the time spent waiting for it. By time I'd finished with the garbage truck, there was still heaps of green-waste left to collect with only a few streets having been touched. It wasn't until about 1pm that I encountered the first side loader, which was a new MacDonald Johnston. After videoing this truck, I was pointed in the direction of the Sidepak shown in the video, where I was lucky enough to capture just enough footage before the Monday area was completed. Sutherland used to run a number of these for the green-waste and recycling collections, until URM took them over for use in my council.

Thanks to the driver for letting me video, all ratings and comments would be awesome, hope you enjoy the smooth action with this rare truck. I also have other Sutherland footage, which includes videos of the garbage, clean-up and another of the green-waste.

Body Make: Compaction Systems (now Superior Pak)
Model: 22m Sidepak
Chassis: Iveco Acco
Council: Sutherland Shire
Contractor: Councils Works
Collection Type: Green-Waste / Vegetation

  • So now that URM are collecting there do they have a single Bin Recycling service or two?

  • @SitaEnvironmental The council still does the collections themselves, URM just bought these trucks off Sutherland.

  • why did they replace the rapid rails?

  • I believe they just got worn and outdated - probably similar reasons to Ku-Ring-Gai.

  • That driver is a cool bloke isn't he. But why is he not wearing a yellow shirt?

  • If the Iveco Acco was sold in Europe it would be known as Magirus Acco. If it was sold in North America it would be known as International Acco but too bad that it is not. Australia chose International for the earliest Acco and Iveco for the latest. But they never liked the name Magirus so there is no Magirus Acco

  • Did you know the IVECO Acco is a younger brother of the IVECO Eurocargo? The Acco is a local Aus model and the Eurocargo is an imported Italian model. IVECO is known in European markets as IVECO Magirus and for Aus markets as IVECO International.

  • Did you know that Hornsby Shire is using sidepaks for greens? Because they currently own Superior PAK and previously Macdonald Johnston.
