  • What is the yellow thing called that you used for holding and cutting the soap? Great video. Very informative!

  • @candeelion Thanks for your comment. The Yellow thing, is a mitre box that I purchased from Lowe's for about $5.00. Works like a charm!

  • Great tutorial. I make MP soap. This makes me want to try HP. Is the zapp test a must? or could the soap be cooked a bit longer without doing the zapp test? That would be the second thing that makes me hesitate about making HP. The first thing is using lye, I'm afraid of it that's why I make MP soap. Where do go get your supplies from? Thank you.

  • @marjs29 Yes, you can cook the soap a little longer (not too long or the soap will dry out) you can also leave the soap to "cure" like CP soap and not use it for a few weeks, which will allow any remaining lye in the soap to neutralize. Don't be afraid of lye, I have used it for years with no problems, just practice safety first. as for my supplies, I get most of my oils from Soapers Choice and my lye I get from Essentials Depot. Thanks for your comment and Happy Soaping.

  • Thanks for a great tutorial! Watched part 1 and 2. I have made 5 batches of cold process and wondered about HP. Love that it cures faster (I have no patience). Can I use a CP recipe in a HP one? Again great video!!

  • @thebachars For the most part any CP recipe can be used for HP, but I would "tweek" the CP recipe if it has more that 40% solid oils/butters because I find that HP soap perform better when there is a higher percentage of liquid oils. For example 30% Olive Oil 15% Rice Bran 25% Palm Oil 15% Coconut Oil 10% Soybean Oil 5% Castor is something that I would use for HP. Thanks for watching! Happy Soaping :)

  • Very nicely done! I've just started dabbling with HP, and it does take some getting used to after working with CP, but so far I'm enjoying it. I look forward to more of your videos. :)

  • best crockpot soap video. thanks for putting this online..

  • This is an awesome tutorial :) I've been looking into making HP soap for a while (I've made MP for years so far, but I want to make them from scratch now) and I've been looking for a visual tutorial to help me to know what to actually look for. Yours is the best I've found. :) Thanks! Now I actually know what to do.

  • Once again, I think your videos is awesome! I thought that it would be very hard to make soap, but this is a great way to make it. Crock pot soap, whe knew? You're so awesome!

  • Excellent tutorial! This is my first attempt at making soap at home. I am looking forward to my next batch.

  • Hey there just wanted to know how long this process takes??? My sister cooks hers on the stove which takes 5 hours, please tell me this method is faster....Thanks

  • Would this work?

    1) Weigh whole brick in oz = W

    2) Measure brick length in inches = N

    3) 5.5 oz * N / W = inches to cut each bar

Assuming your soap is fairly homogeneous along its length, the bars should be exactly as big as you want each time. Weigh as you go to confirm.

BTW, if you never thought you'd ever use ALGEBRA and you hated WORD PROBLEMS, that's basically what this situation was! Kids, demand a quality education or make one for yourself (you're on the Internet, after all)!
