Playing through some presets of the SonicProjects VM Bundle installed in the SM Pro Audio V-Machine hardware VST player.

What you can hear is what comes out of the stereo line outputs of the V-Machine. Presets are switched manually and in some cases also by external MIDI program change. The presets are played on a MIDI master keyboard attached to the V-Machine. The used audio buffer size setting is the standard 256 samples for all presets which means no noticeable latency. The playing feel is the same as the one of a hardware synth.

The SonicProjects VM Bundle is a custom made plugin bundle for the V-Machine featuring a lot of adaptations and optimizations for rock solid performance and easy installation.

The bundle consist of:

- OP-X: an extremely versatile virtual analog synth
- Stringer: a sample based virtual string machine
- SimpleDelay: a custom made delay plugin
- SimpleReverb: a custom made reverb plugin
- pre-configured banks in VFX format
- many ready to play presets including effects
- a controller toolkit for the popular BCR2000

The SM Pro Audio V-Machine is a small and leightweight hardware VST-Player with audio ins and outs, MIDI i/o, headphone out and two USB connectors for USB-MIDI keyboards and controllers or dongles. It works like a common sound expander module, with the difference that its internal engine is completely open and driven by exchangeable software plugins.

  • @CaroozoPL You mean the sound at 9:21? This originally was a Mellotron, a combination of strings and brass, but here it's a layer of the Logan and the ARP Omni which suits very well for this epic Genesis intro as well :-)

  • Wonderful demo !

Melody and sound at 5:13 are just fantastic, is it a song of you ?

  • @docfraktal Unfortunately not ;-) It's the intro of Pink Floyd's wonderful "Signs Of Life" instrumental, the album opener of "A Momentary Lapse Of reason"

  • Have you tried using OP-X Pro II on the V-Machine? I havent heard anything new about the V-Machine it seems to have never gotten off the ground. :(

  • @miamigroove Yes, the VFX Edition, which actually is prepared to be used with a VFX based hardware player, works perfectly stable directly from the stick, however only with 3 up to 4 voices activated because more voices overload the CPU. Since SM Pro Audio claims that the hopefully coming CPU upgrade accelerates the CPU by about factor 3 this could be sufficient then to run OP-X PRO-II! So let's hope it finally will come...

  • @virtualoberheim

I doubt it. They obviously stopped the production and sell out. There´s hardly any support and old bugs were not fixed. But I think the first version of the OP-X is good enough to get excited.

  • @anonymusum What are you referring to? The new 2.0 VFX software works very well, and VM Bundle 2.0 runs solid as a rock using this newest VFX software and firmware; I however don't know about other plugins; the V-Machine iis still sold, but for a much lower price now (about 300 euros)

  • Instrument under v-machine is more interesting than opx

  • What's the last patch's original instrument? Very fat and epic...:) I'm thinking about this unit - kinda missing my Plugiator ASX within CME UF6 (and those Minimax badass patches...). I have 2 options - full-packed Plugiator in module, OR this baby (I'm playing mainly on stage - laptop is not handy. Will this module works good in live situation? Single patch at once - mainly leads and pads with other hardware instruments? And most important - is Jupiter 8/Minimoog sounds available?? :)

  • @virtualoberheim

The latest software is a nightmare in my opinion. The one before is acceptable. Please go to the website and the user forum and look how many complains and ideas for improvements there were written - no real reaction at all. - I work some GSI stuff and some freeware.

    Thanks for your answer !
