  • did u have to modify the frame so it could handle the torque?

  • no, any more torque i will have to plate the unibody or it will break or bend

  • @SpooksHill nope! anymore power it will need it though

  • @kc8ntp Wow you know what your doing buddy, my friend is a diesel mechanic and sounds a lot like you as far as engine smarts goes. We are cherokee nuts. Both got 98 xj sports with 4x4, his is an automatic and mine is a 5 speed. Both of them have 235/75/15s, his is pulling down 14 all around and thats driving it easy, mine I dont check a lot but cant be doing a lot better. Any mods you suggest?

  • @Broncofivepointslow That's not too much more than my 4.0l puts out right now. I love all engines, so don't think that I am dissing the V8 -- I find the SBC to be the best small block ever made. I always look for a balance when it comes to engine building anymore. I used to build 1/4-mile machines, but I build a lot of 4X4 engines now. If you build for max TQ at low RPM, then you normally also get max MPG, too; it is a win-win most of the time.

  • @kc8ntp Yeah that doesn't matter he almost has 300ft-lbs that's where the powers coming from.

  • I would have thought that it would have put out more power than that. I could get that out a 4.0l with a little bit of work. Before anybody says anything, yes, I know this RWHP; I have been an engine builder for over 20-years, so I know. My '96 XJ with a full-size header and ram-air, puts out 185 RWHP (or about 215hp at the engine), which it is pretty damn fast. It does 14.9 in the 1/4, 0-60 in 7-seconds, and gets 30mpg on the highway right now, so I am not messing with it anymore.

  • very cool thats how to do it right

  • bueatiful power curves!

  • @supfuhker 350 torque, sorry

  • mines pushin 300 horse and 30 torque and i havent strengthened the unibody, haven't had any problems yet

  • @SpooksHill you could get frame stiffeners, that weld or bolt to the unibody. welding is preffered, but you have to know how to weld sheet metal.
