The rocket fast elevators at the Millenium Hilton Hotel in the Financial District in NYC. This hotel is located right next to the World Trade Center, where the tragic & sad events of Sept. 11th 2001 occured. This building however, was not destroyed and only suffered some broken windows. These are super fast, at least 1600 FPM, and the panel is similar to the SunTrust Plaza in Atlanta. These also have European fixtures.
Technical Specs:
Brand: Otis
Type: Gearless Traction
Distance: 587 feet/ 55 floors (has express zone, serves floors L-5, 31-55)
Fixtures: Otis European Fixtures
Installed: 1992

  • When I worked on them they were 401 elevonics

  • @U81NOTME Wait, your an Otis mechanic. I'm wondering if you can tell me if this hotel has service elevators, and I was also wondering why there is 4 sets of elevator doors on the lobby and only 3 cabs serve the floors above the lobby.

  • damn, it's unbelievable...it is so high but it's just.... 1/2 of World Trade Center height!!!!

  • Indeed

  • I have to get back to those for a re-take. Those are some of my favorites...very fast!

  • These are my favorite as well, smooth, quiet fast. Only the best from Otis.

  • Can anyone just walk in there and hop in the elevators and go up to the top like that or do you have to be a traveler with a room?

  • I haven't worked for Otis in 10 yrs, I'm sure there is a service elevator there. These are probably 1000 - 1200 fpm. If there is an extra door its probably just to make the lobby more appealing.

  • Yeah, I reccomend riding these again. These go about 1550 fpm, rocket high speed!

  • This is a gearless traction elevator.

Geared traction can make only 2.5 m/s maximum.
