Sinestesia - Live in Ljubljana 2008

Performance audiovisiva sinottica - - Authors: Raffaella Piccolo concept, text, live painting; Matjaz Mancek sound, music. - - - Synaesthesia is a perceptual experience in which a stimulus in one sensory modality gives rise to an experience in different sensory modality. Synesthesia in art has historically referred to a wide variety of artistic experiments in order to synthesize different art disciplines (i.e. music and painting, music and poetry) as can be observed in the genres of visual music, abstract film, computer animation, symbolist poetry, multimedia and intermedial art. 4 distinctive colours BLUE, RED, YELLOW, WHITE are leading 2 artists on a synaesthetic journey through 4 art fields visual, music, literature and movement, challenging them to expand their synaesthetic abilities and to create a multi-sensory experience of interlacing forces of life and creation. The performance is divided in 4 parts each of them 10 min long. Every part opens with a projection of a certain color, which is soon followed by live painting, combined with retroprojection on plexiglass, music instantly composed and performed live with prepared guitar and electronics, vocal recitation and vocalisation and live video manipulation and projection. The symbolic and psycho-physical characteristics of certain colors are dictating the evolvement of the performance in all levels, starting with meditative deepness of Blue, following by passion of Red and crazyness of Yellow, ending with all-absorbing and infinitive feel of White.
