The Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn is the first stop on the U.S. tour of Cameron Mackintosh's brand new 25th anniversary production of Boublil & Schönberg's legendary musical, "Les Misérables," featuring new staging and scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo. A smash hit in London, the world's longest-running musical (third longest on Broadway) has been rebooted and retuned to bring Hugo's classic characters to life for a new generation. STATE OF THE ARTS producer Christopher Benincasa visits Paper Mill Playhouse to drop in on rehearsal and talk with director Laurence Connor, set designer Matt Kinley, movement director Michael Ashcroft, and lead actors Lawrence Clayton (Jean Valjean) and Andrew Varela (Javert).
