Pastor David Grice preaching at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas on May 20, 2009. Many pastors spend their whole sermon "teaching" so they don't have to preach, because they don't have the guts to say things that will offend people, and they'd rather show off how smart they are by explaining all the garbage they were fed in seminary. Sunday School teachers teach. Preachers can teach too, but they're mainly supposed to PREACH. Better learn the difference between a preacher and a teacher. Good preaching can and should contain teaching, but teaching is not preaching.

Dr. Peter Ruckman, Bible Believer's Commentary on Ecclesiastes, page 344-347:

"...the PREACHER is one of the 'masters of assemblies,' referred to in [Ecc. 12:11]... In order to master an assembly, one must be able to get their attention, hold it, and keep it. While doing this, the speaker must edify, rebuke, correct, instruct, comfort, and motivate the assembly (2 Tim. 4:2). This is preaching, in either Testament... 'Scholars' and 'teachers' are found nowhere in the context of such an operation... You do not fasten anything (like you slap a nail into a two-by-four) by merely teaching... You PREACH to fasten a truth. Notice this is the reason why the Pharisees wanted Jesus Christ killed: they were jealous of the assemblies that gathered to hear PREACHING (Matt. 11:5; Mark 2:2; Luke 8:44). Jesus preached, just like John the Baptist preached (Mark 1:7; Luke 3:18). If you want to see the difference between Christ's TEACHING and His PREACHING, compare Matthew 13 with Matthew 23 or John 15 with John 7:28, 38, and 12:44. PREACHING not only edifies, it infuriates (Acts 7), enrages (Luke 6:11), convicts (Acts 2), and forces one to ACT (Acts 26:24)... Only a handful of teachers in church history could really preach."
