This device creates eddy currents in two copper tubes, spinning in around 10,000 RPM. The electric currents form a dynamic magnetic force, which levitates the object. I used two 20 (mm) heavy duty copper tubes with aluminium cores. The tubes are placed on bearings which are mounted on plastic connectors which I printed out in a 3D printer. The tubes are connected to an electric motor.

  • This is so flippin awesome!

  • Respect! that's all I have 2 say!

    not cute - awesome!!!!

  • Really cute.

I wondered if you stuck magnets so they present NS along the circumference whether it would lift at smaller speeds.

The eddy current field from the front magnet tends to sit under the back magnet, so you may find you get more lift.
