I bought a power wheelchair with the idea it was the best way to get cheap motors and a framework for a "big bot" that I could use to haul junk and do robot sorts of things.
Learn more about it and "how to" do one yourself at http://www.cwhaticando.com/view/?t=Build%20a%20Robot%20From%20A%20Power%20Whe...
My wife kept telling everyone I had a Power Chair - So I hurried up and put the thing under picAxe control, so my wife would now say I was working on a Robot - From a Wheelchair. Now it is an official Robot.
There is more to do. I want to make a set of sensors. And I want to make a remote control. I want it to be autonomous, but I want to tell it what to do, and let it figure out "how." Now I have the base unit under computer control, so all the rest is adding fun!
@trikepaulred Would it be possible for you to answer here publicly for everyone to see and share? If you are seeking a commercial relationship, OK, otherwise I am happy to answer on line so the answers can help a broader base of See What I Can Do audience.

@michaelfski I have done some wall avoidance sensor work, but am concentrating on showing how to control joystick electronics using remote controlled robots you can get used or very cheap. What would your guys think about participating by building such a thing? There are several ways to approach it, you could come at it using R/C control, for example???

I teach engineering at a high school TX. For four years now I have been trying to get some of my students to do this as a 12th grade project! Really nice job. Do you have any additional info on this project? We have just started work on this year's FRC project but maybe I can use this video to get them moving on one of these next.
