During the 2005 WWE Summerslam pay-per-view on August 21 at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C., a match between Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels was set to headline the show!
Rumor has it that a two match series between the legends was set to take place with each person winning at least once. However, after it was planned for Hogan to win the first match, he backed out of the second citing a knee injury that was "acting up."
Realizing that he was getting the short end of the deal, it is said the Shawn then got revenge by his actions in the ring.
Is this an act of revenge, or perhaps its a classic example of a heel making a face look really, really powerful. We may never know.

hogan thinks he can just barge in and decide how to run a wrestling company. he's not even a good wrestler. this isn't the first time, in wcw (2000) he refused to lose to jeff jarrett for the heavyweight championship so jarrett layed down for him so vince russo had to change the story, with him right there watching it.
i hate john cena but he could whoop hulk hogan's ass anyday.
I would never blame HBK for overselling to Hogan. I'm sick of seeing Hogan being put over by wrestlers that are ten times better than him. Remember WrestleMania IX? Hart works his ass off in the match with Yokozuna then Hogan suddenly shows up and snatches the title. Pathetic. HBK may not be in his best shape, WWE is clearly hanging on to him because they desperately need Taker and Shawn to stay. Both men should have retired years ago, but the Federation keeps dragging them back.
say what u want about HBK he has his faults...but this was Hogans fault...just hours prior to the match Hogan as he so often does whined and complained 2 vince that he cant lose so the outcome was changed in favor of Hogan...HBK was pissed but did the only thing he could about it and thats oversell...if you are gonna blame HBK for faking than blame Hogan 4 faking that he could ever out wrestke HBK by changing the outcome
Michaels is a wise ass--at the Diva of the Decade, he made snide remarks about Bull Nakano and Bertha Faye (RIP) aka Rhonda Singh--both of whom in their prime could wrestle rings around Trish Stratus--who is the most overrated women's wrestler in history.
The Most Overrated Wrestler in history (Hulk Hogan) vs. the Most Overrated Wrestler in the current WWE (Shawn Michaels)--he looks like hell, should not be wrestling. By the way, Vince, the correct answer to question people have been asking since 1997 is: Vilnce and Shawn screwed Bret.
