NOT into it. Farts.

I like this interpretation. The idea of drowning to death immersed in water gives a feeling of a gradual loss of the will to live. I wouldn't imagine Ophelia vehemently thrashing about. In my mind she would be way too passive to commit suicide by shooting herself in the head for instance.

everyone's interpretation of this is different but the one thing in common is the white dress..fortunately the filming of your version was a little less dangerous than ours :)

that was really cool loved the ending you were amazing awsome angle shots :)

OMG at first I thought this was going to be terrible since it was home made but it was truly awesome!

It was good BUT she actually didn't have the intent to kill herself at first. She fell into the water and just let herself drown. Big difference "There, on the pendent boughs her coronet weeds
Clambering to hang, an envious sliver broke;
When down her weedy trophies and herself
Fell in the weeping brook. Her clothes spread wide;
And, mermaid-like, awhile they bore her up:
Which time she chanted snatches of old lauds;
As one incapable of her own distress,"

VERY beautiful! by the way, SUUUPER IMPORTANT: there used to be another video for a school production of ophelia's drowning that was lost. it had an awesome, and beautiful irish song to it. if the maker of the that vid is reading this, CAN YOU PLEEASE TELL ME THE NAME OF THAT SONG!!??

I have no strong opinions on whether Ophelia's death was intentional or not, therefore I offer no comment on that. (I feel all interpretations are valid and Shakespeare meant to leave the question open-ended, and it is up to each indiviudual actress to discuss with her director and cast which to portray.) However, this is such a goddamned BEAUTIFUL portrayal of the interpretation that she had full knowledge of what she was doing. I nearly cried at one point. Thank you for sharing this.

Great video. The camera work and simplicty of the narrative is first-rate. I'm producing a new piece of experimental theatre for the Edinburgh Fringe 2009 under the working title of 'Ophelia (drowning)', inspired by Millais' painting of this scene. It's going to be performed in a swimming pool. Thanks for sharing this film anyway.
to be quite honest, i dont think youv grasped the concept of Ophelia's death. when she drowned herself, she was at the end of a descent into madness, and had suffered the loss of everyone close to her and the rejection of the man she loved. she would not have blankly stepped into the water, thought about it and went for a swim. she was in a state of extreme brokenness
but hey, its your interpretation, but that is my opinion.

hey thanks i appreciate your comment and opinion, i just always thought that her madness was more of extreme depression and even tho she kills herself i wanted to put a more dramatic sense in when she takes the plunge, in my opinion life is so delicate that i just imagined that to commit suicide is not easy to accomplish due to the mind, not sure if you get my drift but thanks for the comment
