  • Such a sad sight. I used to drive a lot of these when I started driving back in 1989.

  • Amazing stuff, favourited. In the 70's I spotted all these. The last number to complete all the AC's was 86110 in 1976. I remember seeing 1022 Western Sentinel in the scrapline at Swindon, heartbreaking really, watching a part of your childhood dying in front of you....

Awesome post, thanks for posting this.

  • sad .. brilliant film.

  • These types of vids and the yards in general, always tug at my heart strings......sad to see the loco's that you used to see dragging freight and passengers up the line sat ready to be broken :(

I was at crewe years ago when the 20's, 50's and 47's were there all dead :(

  • @pjunzi So did i, apart from the class 83s of which i managed to get haulage from only 1 of this class (83012 from Crewe to Wigan NW in spring of 1981). Best performances 85009 from Wigan NW to Wembley Central Rugby special, May 1984. Even with a signal stop at Crewe this loco managed that journey in a little over 2 hours and 85014 on the return panned it all the way back (apart from the Crewe speed restriction) in about 1 hour 55 mins. Pendolinos ? i've shit em.

  • woah is there any left?

  • Both 81003 and 85022 resided at Carlisle for a fair while after they combusted. 003 at the now home of DRS and 85022 sheeted over next to the WCML, at Upperby.

  • @BEZ81022 Spoke to you last year on the West Cumbria shuttles Bez - can remember you lads were always out on the roaring beasts. Never did anything like enough behind them, but they were truly rateable machines, many happy hours zipping up and down the WCML.
