Simple, straightfoward but also intense and foreboding thanks to the excellent score by James Newton Howard. A Modern Classic.

  • thanks for uploading this, the soundtrack is awesome. this movie is amazing

  • Cheers. It's probably one of the most spin chilling soundtracks ever. BTW I love TicTacs too. 'Specially Lime and Orange variety.

  • Love how the music suddenly quiets down when it shows James Newton Howard on the credits.

    M. Night Shyamalan must have done it to acknowledge that it's his music that made half the film.

  • It sounds simple, yet is very, very smart. The whole score is based around three notes, basically.

  • @Ipso80 Me too, this film disturbed me when I saw this in theaters and the music really introduced the creepy atmosphere of the film. Can you believe this was back when Shyamalan had momentum going. After Village, he lost his touch for some reason.

  • @fROmTh3fUTURe Haha, I know exactly what you mean. I love this movie, and I think the soundtrack is it's biggest asset. That said, since I've seen the movie so many times, the part you mentioned beginning at 1:17 indeed seems a bit silly. It's so action packed... and essentially the audience is reading. LOL. It's brilliant, but I can't help but smile during it now since I'm familiar with the movie now. The first time I saw it though, I was on the edge of my seat. :)

  • @mack503 i think is far more suspensul that Psycho's theme, don't get me wrong, Psycho's theme is chilling the violins nerve wracking but with this the danger is brought up ten fold...its just fucking amazing

  • Come back from the rotten side M. Night, you have good potential somewhere in there ;_;

  • This movie wouldn't have been scary if the music wasn't there. It scared me when I saw it! =)
