Update Aug 2, 2010:
Unfortunately I'm not going to complete the entire Dancing Mad song. As much as I wanted to finish this I just couldn't get it to sound right. I apologize to anyone who might have been looking forward to this.
This is a sneak peak of the project I've got going on with Guitar Hero's Music Studio. I'm covering the song "Dancing Mad", which is the final battle music from Final Fantasy 6. All 4 tiers, in 4 separate songs. So it's going to take a while.
This sneak peak is of the 1st tier, made in GH Metallica's music studio, so if you're still playing GHWT or GHM, check it out. Now that GH5 is out I'll be redoing this song and creating the other 3 in that instead. Once I learn how the new music studio works.
[Update] So I've played with the GH5 music studio. Besides the menus being a bit awkward (getting used to it) the sound is tremendously better than GHWT/M, and I'm impressed with all the details you can adjust for specific notes. Also, seeing as there's no max length for a song, just 7500 notes max, I might be able to do this cover in one song. We'll see. Anyway, I've already gone and made another song with the GH5 music studio and I'll be uploading it shortly.
Once again, the song is pre-recorded and played over the video of me playing the frets.
GHM Music studio +/-
+ instruments sound fuller. 3rd octave for guitar sounds less like a synthesizer.
+ muted rhythm guitar sounds less bass-y, worked really well for this cover.
- low bass is a little too overwhelming. Especially the C note. I find it drowns out the rest of the band during the fast part of the song.
Sounds awesome! Can't wait it hear it finished.

Still working on it. Just finished the 1st tier in GH5 today. I'd probably be done by now if I wasn't playing L4D so much, plus I've been working on my game more often.
