Bob here in Kentucky we must be on one side of the unit or the other , preferably by the Panel or above the unit , with at least 3' of clearance behind !!!

We have to be at least 2' up , we get alot of snow here !!!

Except for this winter its 7:45 warm and we are under a Tornado Warning !!! (crazy weather) ...

I installed that system for Miss K on 10/16/10 it was cool outside , My Required Subcool was 12 degrees , you are allowed plus or minus 3 on a TXV system , I was well within that range !!! I dialed her into that , then the Unit was shut down for Winter !!!

If you check out my Video called , HVAC: Air Conditioner Check & Clean , when I go back in the Spring you can tell how the Ambient Heat changes the state of the Refigerant !!! My Subcool now is 12 & Evap is 38.4 !!!

@fritzhvac Wow! Thats a lot of work for two days!

I usually can put a mini split in in a day but they are a lot simpler, no ductwork or gas lines and a lot smaller too.

We are quite lucky as we have some friends who run another fridge and ac company that will come and give us a lift with the units if needs be, we also help them out too.

fritz , iwas wndering if you have ever heard of charging by using wet bulb temp minus 24 and it would equal your evap saturation temp . 2 days ago i changed a t stat and for kicks checked charge . it had a charging chart so i just used it , and sure enough it was spot on. Had sat temp of 40 wet bulb of 64 so subtract 24 it = 40. i had never heard of this. a tech told me in a jam you could use this method.

99.9% of the Time I work alone,Little Brother & Sister in Law will stop by on there way to there job, and Help me get Furnace Down the Steps and Old One Out, then Help me Set Unit on Snow Legs if its a Heat Pump !!!

Alot of times I have to do it alone , thats means its Dolly Time, and a Back Workout for Ole Fritz !!! LOL ...

It usually take me 2 days , I have Temporary Heat or Cool on the First Day !!!

Then come Back & Do the Cosmetics !!!
