Point is this reminds me of how smart/capable he is - he said he didn't want to do the old way better but to change the system.

Instead, Obama is the one:

a) making deals w/ hospital lobby against Public Option despite 60-80% support in polls

b) flipflopping to pressure AGAINST drug importation & negotiating drug prices

c) reluctant to appoint Elizabeth Warren for strong financial oversight

d) kowtowing to right-wing news pressure to fire Jones & Sherrod

What a shame

1) he's surrounded himself w/ Emmanuel (who advises him to ignore the Progressives who got him elected, instead focusing on the Corporatist Dems & Reps in the middle.) and Gethner & Summers (who do the bidding of the bankers). The resulting weak reforms are Obama's fault.

2) his opponents aren't better -they shout he's foreign or Maoist, but if instead they attacked him from a populist POV he'd be forced to enact better policy. Instead they're clown fringe and easily dismissed.
