Love it. Really high quality build, and the method for drawer slides makes me simultaneously love and hate you (hate because of how badly I've fought these things in the past, and love for obvious reasons). Thanks!

Absolutely right, the middle divider was put in to make it more rigid. It also adds to the weight of the base. With a very heavy torsion box top, a little extra weight on the bottom doesn't hurt. Last but not least, even though there is probably little chance of it happening, the middle divider will help prevent the two sides of the cabinet from bowing out under a heavy load.
