Also - and I admit I might be biased on the grounds of nostalgia - I think Arkanoid II is the very best Breakout clone in existence. It's the only one I know that adds a whole lot to the gameplay while being sensible enough to not overthrow the whole basic mechanic.
Except for those damned indestructible dark-green balls that bounce up and down. :P
Heh, you don't even use the Adlib sounds? Back in the days of yore, when I had a 286, I didn't have a soundcard, either. Hearing the "blib - dablubb - blib - dablubb" sounds here gave me chills. :D
When trying this game out once more in Dosbox recently and listening to the Adlib sounds, I must say, surprisingly, of all the versions of the Arkanoid theme I have heard so far, I like the PC Adlib music best.
This was also the only game ever where I had Highscore-battles with someone... Memories...
