This is the first half of a video of alarms run by the Central Broome County, NY Engine 99 Crew. The crew responds on any fire calls and CPR calls within all participating districts. It may also respond outside the districts when requested. The crew is all volunteer and can be run out of any of the participating companies stations.

  • what is the orange helmet for on the picture 3 car mva entrapment south over 11 66's first?

  • An orange helmet, some departments use orange shields, means that the firefighter wearing it is either a Jr. member (under 18) or a probationary member (for many departments the first 6 months as a member). It just makes it easier on the fireground for the Chief to pick out the rank of a firefighter by quickly scanning the helmet colors just like you can signify line officers (yellow/red) and chiefs (white) by different color helmets.
