See also: http://watussolis.blogspot.com/ Since 1978, long before youtube & internet were available, I have been documenting my hometown in the Philippines through pictures, videos, literature and other media for posterity and for future generations but most are gone due to a fire that razed our house on Rizal Street in 1990. This is a video that survived when I sent a copy to my parents in New York. In one segment (2:22), there is a glimpse of my picture of disabled Mama Ostong Paliis, smiling for me in spite of the hardship and pain, slumped on his usual spot in front of the public market begging for food and money, one of the nameless faces and unknown characters that inspired me in documenting our town's way of life. He is gone now but his memory and all other ordinary folks I met on the journey will live forever. This is an Art, Talent & Cultural Exhibition I organized in conjunction with the first Balikbayan Fiesta 1989. Please enjoy and always remember, Pozorrubio is in the heart. Love Always, Watus.
Nice video, Tito Watus!
