  • ive always wanted to own a live steam train, but they are so expensive, my car is worth less than most of them

  • @sgtwylde1996 I hear you there, for sure!

  • My wife and I took our children to a live steam event at Tahuna in Nelson New Zealand (our home country) last week and we all absolutely loved it.

We had several rides on different engines, some about this size but some much smaller. One thing I was intrigued by was how on earth some of the smaller engines could pull so many people! Is it really all done by the steam power of the engine or is there another electric motor some where? If not they must generate an awesome amount of torque!

  • @slooob23 just the steam power but the locos weigh several hundred pounds

  • Real modeling

In Japan,Live steam model can't run over bridge, because of dangerous.

I've never heard such a fantastic layout

  • This is one fine layout but, the Los Angles Live Steamers those guys are the Serious HardCores of Live Steam RR's

  • God there is some nice engines on this. You can see them best at the end.Beautiful work. Glad to be an engine builder too. They are all getting old and leaving us. Not too many more new builders.

  • @slooob23 Something to consider about steam is that it isn't that different from electrical motors. Steam and electricity make peak torque at 0rpm. They are also both stored energy systems. The boiler not only makes steam, but stores steam. You only need lots of power when first getting a train moving, so those little engines have 3 or 4 cars engines at full throttle worth of energy stored up in that boiler. It can all be released in an instant, just like from a battery.

  • LoL

  • @SkipW Try Riverside.

  • @ISO8 Virtually every live steam track in the U.S. has bridges of some kind. Why do you say they are dangerous?

  • in terms of model trains, what gauge is this? Is it one at all? If not, what is the scale (eg. 1:87, etc.)

  • @slooob23 bom dia gostaria de lhe perguntar se existe a possibilidade de comprar uma locomotiva a vapor será que eu consigo no seu país ??

  • Some day, I'll be rich and famous for making video games and I'll have two live steamers, Sierra Rwy No. 3 and 28
