After shooting the BNSF derailment footage last February 12, I caught a southbound coal train on the Beardstown sub. This particular location lies between Kirkland Trail and Springer Road just north of Sorento, Illinois, and marks the end of a siding that extends to Toland. The coal train approached very slowly and drew to a stop, whereupon the conductor lined the switch in the frigid 18-degree air. UP 6999 and UP 5867 lead, with UP 5889 as a nice ending.
