NASA documentary on the space flight and the journey of the astronauts of Apollo 11. The full length feature is around 28 minutes. Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the Moon. The first steps by humans on another planetary body were taken by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on July 20, 1969. The astronauts also returned to Earth the first samples from another planetary body. Apollo 11 achieved its primary mission - to perform a manned lunar landing and return the mission safely to Earth - and paved the way for the Apollo lunar landing missions to follow. This is part 1.

  • @matatan69 nah, kardashians...

100 thumbs up from me for you writing that! Wholly agree with you, sir! These days are rife with the lack of big imagination and the failures of greedy, evil men which have steered the first-world governments on a search for greater profit by waging worthless warfare. It is ironic that the same catalyst for bringing the moon landing about has driven also the failures of these last two shitty decades.

  • @creekside20985 1969 is IN the 7th decade. 1900s, 10s, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s = 7 decades.

  • @paraconti no it wasnt it was 1969

  • '..in the sixth decade of the century..' . It was the SEVENTH decade!

  • so this is how the astronauts land on moon!!!

  • Come on ppl. You really don't buy that stuff do you?

Don't you think there would be a Blast Crater under the LEM?

    Where was the Crater?

  • I remember it well, I stayed home from school and watched this live.

  • A truly great achievement....now if we could just find Bin Laden........

Seriosly, Imagine if all the money spent chasing terrorists could have gone into the space program- There might be a permanent Tranquility base by now.

So much was done during the cold war.....
