From: http://www.youtube.com/joe6panther6 I received a massage once on my way back from Indiana. The lady in the airport started to massage my back and I felt these bumps under my skin that she gently massaged away. It freaked me out a little but I figured those bumps were stress related.

What are they? What chemical produces them?

  • There is an interns warning in medicine which says "lumps in the young are infections until proven otherwise, and lumps in the old are cancer, until proven otherwise." Of course we all have lumps (lipomas, inclusion cysts etc) and that is ALMOST always what a lump is. BUT you owe it to a client to point out a lump in the skin, muscle, or fat and suggest they have it checked BEFORE it gets bigger. You may be saving a life to point out a lump BEFORE it gets bigger and send them to their physician.

  • I have lots of small kind of lumps, the best way I can describe are that when I do tennis ball massage it "pings" over them. I always thought they were trigger points/knots.

  • Thanks for responding and subbing. :)

I was under a lot of stress at the time so I immediately dismissed them as stress related lumps.
