about three months ago, I heard a used Designer series at my local Sam Ash and I was simply blown away. The response, resonance, construction of the drums wew better than anything else I've experienced. I was actually there to rearch a Pearl Reference but I have decided to wait until I am in a good position to get a Sonor. They were that good

@Brok3nCarlos It's a catch-22 for me. I have a good kit now, so the next thing I buy should be a serious upgrade. Except that a "serious upgrade" is out of my reach. For now. Adding to my woes are the fact that I also play guitar, and I have a couple of dream purchases in that arena as well. But thanks for the tip, it certainly won't hurt to check out the Ascent series!

A question for drummers who have used 600 hardware before... the easy grip adjustment knobs mentioned at 6:20, do the work?
my experience of knobs that are round instead of ones that have 'wings' isn't very good. I can't seem to get enough leverage one the knob so that it stays tight. i.e. i have a spare seat from Tama that use round knobs and it keeps slipping when i sit on it, i have had some pretty close calls with falling off the drums and onto something painful... id love your advice :D

Great drums, but they're hardware is pathetic. Not functional, heavy, and hardly aesthetically pleasing.

How is it any less functional or heavier than DW, Pearl, Mapex or insert your fave brand here. They have a full hardware line from the heavy 600 series to the light 100 series - just like the others. They use the same tom arm design as most others. Sounds to me like you saw some Signature or Phonic series hardware 25 years ago, made up your mind and haven't bothered to look since. Hardly fair. Sonor's current hardware isn't much different than the others. The 600 is better made than most.
