William Watkins plays Langlais' "La Nativite" on the 1949 Aeolian-Skinner Op. 1173 at First Presbyterian Church, Kilgore, Texas, in this historic 1953 recording. William Watkins was a student of Virgil Fox at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. He was later organist at First Congregational Church, New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, and Georgetown Presbyterian Church ( where he was organist for 40 years) in Washington, DC. The Aeolian-Skinner organ at Frist Presbyterian Church, Klogre, Texas is one of the finest pipe organs in the United States, and was designed by G. Donald Harrison and Roy Perry, organist of the church for over 40 years. This track is taken from the 4 CD set "The Aeolian-Skinner Legacy Vol. 4," available from www.vermontorganacademy.com
