  • thanks mate! great vid. straight forward and to the point!

  • @ausdublin Glad to be of help. Spent my last weekend replacing the power steering pump on the golf. It's a money pit, but I love it.

  • @egokart ooohhhh that happens to be my next job too. any vids hehehehe

  • @ausdublin No, sorry, didn't get round to taking any vids. I couldn't get hold of a MK3 pump, so I bought a MK4 pump, they are identical apart from the shaft collar that the pulley bolts onto. It's a pretty easy job, just make sure you have a oil catch pan underneath when you take the hoses off, a surprisingly large amount of power steering fluid comes out!

  • That is exactly how it is supposed to be, I know it looks like its buggered but its not,it is designed to float,it is exactly how it is supposed to be so dont go changing your mounts...they are fine

  • Jesus, are you serious ??

THIS IS NORMAL, try turning your wheel to one side and check the top plate again, it will be AT AN ANGLE, and the space is made so that the top plate doesnt rub on the body while turning !!

If you think your strut mount if bad because of that, then ALL VW from the dealer come with bad strut mount then..

  • ahaha my strut mount is fucked so bad but i still drive on it.

  • @egokart My MK3 Vr6 knocks when its cold Im gonna order some HD struts mounts. My sisters MK3 is really bad and she has replaced them 2 times aready.

  • When I fitted the new top mount bushes, there was still a little bit of movement, but much less than on that video. If you hear or feel a "knock" when you drive off a curb or over a speed bump, it's likely the top mount bushes that are worn. Good luck!

  • thank u im gonna kill the guy at the auto shop cuz he told me it was alright if they move like that and he is a car specialist, supposably.
